An Apron, is an Apron, is an ...

This past May I was organizing our church's Ladies Tea.

Our theme revolved around aprons, so I went looking for images of aprons to use for favors.

Here is what I found when I entered "aprons" in the search field:

1929: The

Not exactly what I'm looking for.

Getting warmer, but could do with out the vacuum.

LOS ANGELES - DECEMBER 23: Actors and volunteers Bobby Edner, Jason Graham and Ashley Edner pose at the Los Angeles Mission

Getting colder

Colder ... but yummy, Lindt chocolates.
Wonder if they are looking for any blog reviewers?

Umm, no idea.

Seriously?

We're back to actual aprons, and a cute one,
but can do without the Victoria's Secret model.

UNIVERSAL CITY, CA - MARCH 12: Actress Betty White signs aprons to be auctioned at charity in the green room at the

Not even close, but had to add it since it is a picture of Betty White.
And, yes, this picture was selected when I entered "aprons" into the search.

TORONTO, ON - SEPTEMBER 09: Director Sima Urale from the film

The caption for the picture is "Apron Strings Portrait Session".
Person? Movie? Book? Googling as we speak ... Movie. Came out in 2008.

Westlemania and Mickey Rourke has what, exactly, to do with aprons?

And the last picture I found, while searching "aprons" ...

This is not the picture. I cannot show the picture I found.
Seriously, this is a family website, plus my Grandmother reads my blog ... Hi Grandma.
Let's just say there was an apron in the picture, numerous tatoos, and a back-end, 'nough said.

***All images, except the last one, were found at PicApp. The last image I found at Wikipedia.

The Picture

For anyone, breathlessly, waiting for a picture of JT's walnut boat mobile .... TA DA:

No, that isn't seaweed hanging off the mobile, it was hung under my donkey's tail plant.

One night, after the project was finished and before he turned it in, the poor kid came downstairs and confessed that he was feeling nervous. He was afraid that people would think the project was silly.

Far from it. The morning he turned it in kids and teachers were admiring the mobile. One teacher commented on the wonderful use of recycled materials. Actually, she made that comment twice.

I laughed. Nothing was recycled. Everything (except the paper and tape which were already on hand) was bought specifically for this project. Shhhhhh.

Anyone interested in half a bag of whole walnuts? Do nuts go bad?

First Snow

It snowed today! All day! It looked heavenly.

Some thought having snow on a Saturday was a waste of a snow day. Our family were thrilled because Hubby was home and could play with the kids.

And to those who grumbled about the waste of a snow day, have no fear, Monday will probably bring a 2 hour delay.

Around town half of Saturday was canceled. We live south of the Mason Dixon line, they cancel everything with just a threat of snow.

A snow girl was made.

Sleds were brought out, dusted off, and ridden down hills.

Several snow forts were constructed.

The boys went out to play, all day. This morning, for awhile, they disappeared completely. It turns out they wrangled a hot chocolate invitation from a neighbor boy. After lunch they went back out to play, for HOURS. They returned looking tired, happy, and with glowing cheeks.

On days like these the area around our back door (located in the breakfast room) looks like this.

Some people dream of a white Christmas. I dream of a mud room.

Happy Snow Day!

Basket Case

This Saturday our church is holding an auction for the adoption fund. Our Sunday school class put together a coffee/tea/hot chocolate basket.

Well, it started off as a coffee basket, but it grew.

While putting the basket together I started to take pictures, anything for the blog.

However, half way through the photo session my batteries gave their final warning, and quit. For several weeks the camera batteries have threatened to quit on me, that explains the little flashing red light.

I enjoy putting together baskets. While pregnant with our oldest several friends were also pregnant. As gifts for everyone I went on a mini shopping spree.

Let's face it, shopping is a major factor why baskets are fun to organize.

Shopping at TJ Maxx. Shopping at Ross. Shopping at a friend's business.

I live vicariously through my friends. I lead a rather quiet life, no cliff hanging or massive challenges. This chick likes life on the ground. Plus, right now, three children is enough of a challenge for me. There are days I'm hanging on the cliff's edge by a finger nail (which is a problem since I have yet to kick the ole' nail biting habit.)

Unlike our friends who bought a coffee shop. I love friends who sell food and coffee. Friends who sell food and coffee are some of the best friends to have.

Sorry, I digress. So, I started to take pictures of the basket items. And I planned to take pictures of the completed basket, but forgot. And, then I procrastinated. Before delivering the basket I was putting it together, oh 10 minutes before we needed to leave for JT's swimming practice, and to deliver the basket.

Then this week, after delivering the basket on Sunday, I had a neurotic moment and called my friend, one of the auction organizers, and begged her to allow me to return to her house and redo the basket.

I had some of those packaging pillows, plastic air pillows used in packages to cushion the boxes contents, and they were perfect, perfect to hold up all the items in the basket so everyone could see the contents.

Did I say I begged, and even admitted to having a neurotic moment?

Ah, a second chance to take a picture, this time with a much better looking basket. So we walked over to her house, air pillows in hand, and no camera.

However, the basket looks great and if you want to see it you will need to head over to the auction this weekend. EMHS, 5pm. Go, bid high, buy lots of food. Apparently there will be lots of chili.

Picture Fun

Katrina, at Callapidder Days, was tagged for a picture meme. She then invited anyone to join in. Here are the rules:

Find your 5th photo file folder,
then the 5th photo in that file folder.
Post that picture on your blog.
Tag 5 others to do the same.

ED, around 15 months old. He loved pulling this drawer out, throwing all his socks out of it and climbing in. (Funny, Katrina's picture was of one of her children sitting in a basket. What is it with kids of this age and climbing into things?)

Interested in joining in? Tag your it. After posting leave a comment. Don't have a blog? (You know who I'm talking too) Then send me an email with your picture.

I've Been Promoted

While driving home one day EM began talking to her imaginary friend, then her imaginary friend began talking to me.

Imaginary Friend: What is your name

Me: My name? Isn't it Mom?

Imaginary Friend: No, your name is not Mom.

Me: Then what is it?

Imaginary Friend: Mrs. "insert fake last name to hind my real last name"

Hmm, I'm no longer "just Mom." Does that come with a pay upgrade?

One of the things I love being "just Mom" are the notes and pictures my kids leave for me. Many times they pile them up on my night stand.

You know, I think I'll keep my current position "just Mom", regardless of any promotion or pay raise (O, how I wish.)
