A Recovery Program

Hello, my name is Erin, and I'm a recovering Type A.

"Hello Erin."

The other weekend I was faced with THE worst case scenario, I couldn't find my date book. It was lost!

It was left behind, at the high school where EM's recital was held. (I still have no idea how it fell out of my purse. It isn't little by any stretch of the imagination.)

My date book. My life. My family's life. All written in that mid-size black book, and it had disappeared.

Upon that realization I took a deep breath. Then several more.

"I will not panic, I will not panic, I will not ..."

For awhile that worked, and then I panicked.

As Sunday progressed I braced myself for the inevitable, I may not find it. The high school is large. The auditorium was probably used several times over from Saturday night to Monday morning. It could have been thrown in a lost & found box, not found at all, carried off (because all those free ice cream coupons at McDonalds and knowing my refrigerator water filter number are real valuable.)

Monday morning I strolled into the office, crossing my fingers, and asked my question.

"Yes, we have it."

Praise The Lord!!!! Not only had it been found, it was being kept with care in someones office.

I breathed again. I jumped for joy. I then began searching for 12 step programs for Type A's.

Do you think they will make me hand over my label maker?

Are you an incurable Type A'er, or maybe you wish you had a few more of those personality traits?

And for more Company Girl Coffee, head over to Rachel Anne's at Home Sanctuary.

Oh, Erin. I feel your pain. I'm not a type-A person, but I will admit that I would have gone through the same sense of panic had I lost something like ... my phone. Or my coupon folder. Or ... the Olive Garden gift card we were given in December with an unknown denomination on it but still have not used.

Have a good weekend, Company Girl. :)

Hello fellow Company Girl! I don't know if I'm Type-A, but if I lost my planner, that would be the same as losing my mind! I write everything down on it and then I don't have quite as much to remember! Hope your weekend is better!!

Yes, I'll admit it, I'm type A! But I'm trying to remember constantly that it is NOT my performance that gets me in good standing with God!
And yes, I am attached to my planner...

*gasp* I don't have a planner. I do have a dry erase board calendar in my kitchen that I am very anal about updating though. Thankfully it is very difficult to misplace that!

My cell phone on the other hand, losing that is a much bigger issue for me, especially since we do not own a land line!

Glad you found it!!!!

I am soooo Type-A and I could completely relate to your panic! However, I do feel my type-A tendencies beginning to subside a bit. Chasing after 2 kids, having 2 part time jobs all makes for a weary mommy. Who has time for baseboards anymore?

Though I am not sure if I am a type A person I would panic if I lost my cellphone. Not only is it my only phone since we don't have a landline, but it is also my memory bank. It holds my callendar, my lists, my ideas, my weightloss plan/tracker, all the phonenumbers to everyone I know, pictures as it is usually my closest camera, I have a bible on it, wikipedia and lots more that I use every day.
So glad you found your book.
Have a good weekend fellow company girl.

I WISH I was type A...or at least a little bit. I have a date book. I just forget to write in it. and if I do write in it, I forget to look to see what I wrote! I cannot even tell you how many times I have come home with a load of groceries and realized I forgot the one thing I actualy went for or how I forgot I was bringing someone supper and had to drive through the chicken place at the last minute...ugh! Glad you found your book though...now you can enjoy the weekend!
