When you are a parent you have two choices; either laugh at the situation, or hide.
(Just don't let the kids see you laugh.)

Company Girl Coffee
Welcome, come in, sit down ... though you may want to sit at a distance. My cold has made a reappearance. I am not a happy chick. Yesterday, my boss told me to stay home, sit on the couch with a good book and cup of Theraflu, and work on getting healthy. I love being the boss.
After a good night sleep, thanks to NyQuil (notice I have no issues with cold drugs) I'm feeling much better, in a stuffy sort of way. Feeling better is good, because tomorrow we have a surprise for the kids (shhh: Disney on Ice.) Since the tickets are already paid for I would need to be in a coma in order not to go.
Have you been following this month's Small Things? Yesterday's small thing, writing thank you notes, motivated me to write to friends who invited us over for dinner, um in July. Ooops.
Unfortunately, other then completing yesterday's task, I've fallen off the Small Thing wagon for this month. (Which made Rachel Anne's Monday posting about falling off the housekeeping wagon rather funny.) Thankfully, I'm still cleaning, or maybe unfortunately. I'm just trying to focus on certain tasks.
Monday I decluttered the play room, a preChristmas ritual, and Tuesday I was able to declutter the kid's rooms. Two garbage bags of stuff were snuck out of the house, and one box of small toys is hidden in my craft closet, waiting for the end of the school year when I will make several "donations" to kid's schools.
Hopefully, you are keeping up with the Small Things better then I.
Well, I must go. It is time for a coffee refill and study for Sunday. In my attempt to be extra helpful at church I double booked myself and offered to help in the nursery during Sunday school, as well as teach our Sunday school class. Thankfully I was able to find a substitute for the nursery, though now that I'm faced with reading 20 pages from The Upside-Down Kingdom by Donald Kraybill I'm wishing I could be in the nursery. (Actually the book is very interesting and easy to read. I highly recommend it. However, with a stuffy nose my brain feels rather stuffy and doesn't want to think.)
Enjoy your weekend. I hope to remember the camera and post some pictures of our family fun day, though don't expect great pictures of the ice skaters since we are in the nose bleed section. We must also remember the binoculars.
Happy Company Girl Coffee!

Oh, have fun with Disney on Ice...took my kids years ago and they really enjoyed it...hope the cold gets better!
Oh, my oldest LOVED Disney on Ice. It was a very big deal and we all had fun (we had fun watching her have fun!) Have a great time! Do hope you're feeling better!
First of all, I love Nyquil. When you need it, it's the best. I hope you're feeling well enough to enjoy the Ice show.
I'm STILL working on my thank you's...I only got ONE done and I have a bunch to do. I'm getting back on the housekeeping wagon too, so you're in good company!
So sorry to hear that you are stuffy. I hope the show is an incredible experience for you all any way!
We've got coughs here, but other than that, we're having a very restful weekend. My DH made fall harvest cookies with the kiddos yesterday. He's very patient with them. When it came time to decorate them it got handed off to me and we had loads of fun. It's amazing how many sprinkles an almost three year old can pile on to one cookie! :)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Melissa
