Tiny Talk Tuesday

Kids will try any excuse to get themselves out of trouble. One of my favorites is the "direct to sibling" method. Otherwise known as "throw them under the bus." Here are two examples.

I'm walking upstairs to say goodnight to the kids, who were already tucked in by Hubby. ED comes out of the bathroom, in PJ bottoms, no top.

Me: ED, where is your shirt?

ED: JT isn't wearing a shirt. He is sleeping like Daddy. (Hubby doesn't wear a shirt to bed. My apologies for those who find this a little TMI. So, ED decided to join in the Be Like Daddy club)

-------------------------
Me: JT, stop kicking the ball inside the house.

JT: Well ED wanted to play kick the ball. (And, so that reasoning somehow overrules the house rule of no playing with balls in the house? Not so much.)

-------------------------
EM was looking at a nativity story book and started to read out loud. Note: She is 4, she can't read. But she knows what the book is about, and the book has pictures to help her tell her own story.

EM: Mary was wishing she could fly in the air like an angel. Then the angel came to her and told her she would have a baby. Mary was surprised.

Joseph was in bed dreaming. He was dreaming that he could fly, then an angel came and helped him to flew.

-------------------------
Today EM was watching Mouse Detective. She came to me and started talking about the bad guy (or mouse) in the storyline.

EM: And Mommy, if a bad guy came into our houses then you, me, Daddy, JT and ED would (about this time I tuned her out so I'm not sure what we would do) and Cordie (our cat) would scratch them (scratching is about the only thing our cat does do well.)

Hmmm, I guess God made us just the way we are. But it would be nice to have special powers. You know, like the girl in Ben 10 who has pink things come out of her hands and she stops the bad guys. (Yes, I know. My 4-year-old has seen Ben 10. These things happen when the 4-year-old in the house is the youngest.)

Me: Well EM, God did give us powers. He gave us the power to pray to him.
She wasn't as impressed with that. To a 4-year-old, producing a force field from your hands is a lot cooler.

Happy Tiny Talk Tuesday. For more fun and laughs head over to Mary's at Not Before 7.

Ben10? Never heard of it. But a cute conversation for sure!

Love the "reading". Guess she'd really like to fly - maybe she's projecting :)
