Fall Into Reading Wrap-Up

It's that time of year when all good things must come to an end, and Callapider Day's Fall Into Reading Challenge is a good thing.

Since I love to read and have no lack of books, it is funny that I need a challenge to get me reading. Then again with 3 children running around the house what I really lack is the time. Upon starting the challenge I began going to bed earlier and reading, setting aside time during the day to do my Bible studies and reading more on weekends. It also helped to have a few sick days where I was confined to my bed and could only sleep or read. Plus, I'm no longer working so that time spent on the computer on the weekends and in the evening can be spent reading. (Which sounds great in theory but somehow I'm still on the computer, only this time blogging.)

The challenge began on Monday, September 22nd. On that day I posted a list of 7 books (5 fiction and 2 devotional) and the promise to read numerous blogs. Well I'm on my 5th fiction book, Northanger Abbey, and am on my 3rd devotional book (Elizabeth George's A Woman After God's Own Heart. Right before that I read another of her books, Loving God with All Your Mind.) Yeah for me! I'm up to date with the Alexander McCall Smith's serious The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency and almost completed my Austen-a-Thon.

And after the challenge? I will keep reading. Hopefully, once Christmas is over (at least after my Christmas cards are mailed out) I will have more time to read because those books are piling up.

Next on my fiction list is the Box Car Children series. JT just got into these books and is now begging me to read them. I'm also waiting on two series by Enid Blyton to arrive. I grew up reading St. Clare's and Malory Towers, two series about two English girl's boarding schools. The sets I own are worn out and I wanted EM to have these books when she is old enough to read. My father asked a friend, living in England, to hunt down the books ... Thank You Stewart! I'm thinking I will be reading these again as well, I just hope I don't read-out these new sets before EM gets them.

And after I'm done with all those I still have more books, sitting on the book shelf and collecting dust, just waiting for the Spring Reading Challenge, see you then.

You're choose some titles that I've never read, and you did a good job. I have no little ones left at home, so I had more reading time. Here's my wrap-up post:

I have never heard of E. B. It seems worth looking into if you have read your copies to pieces. lol I read my Anne of Green Gables, Secret Garden, Dee Henderson books to pieces. :)

Sounds like you did good with the challenge. I plan on reading Pride and Prejudice in 2009 as one of the books for casual classics challenge. I recently put mccall's first book on my wishlist - heard lots about ladies detective agency.

I enjoyed the challenge so much, came up with a Winter Reading Challenge and more reading goals. If you are up for another challenge, please come join us.

Good job, Erin! And I hear you about the lack of time... and about being on the computer instead of reading. :) Thanks again for being part of FIR '08!
