Our Fun, Fall Weekend ... Part 2

... After our final indulgence at the Relief Sale we rolled piled into the car and headed to Hubby's work for a Friends & Family Open House.

Now, usually work-related socials fall under two categories; RSVPs, reserved for fancy dress-up parties or a day at the amusement park. Give us a rough number by such & such a date would be used for picnics. This social was a picnic, but a very restricted picnic.

First, there were the registration forms sent out, stating that every employee could invite 4 people. If you wanted to invite more you were required to fill out a permission form. So, that family of 6 had to leave a kid at home if they didn't receive special permission. (Which I don't think happened to anyone, but hey some people have large families.)

We were given name tags and told to wear these tags at all times. Upon entrance at the plant gate we were given safety goggles, and once again told to wear these at all times. Have you ever seen a child under the age of 2 years of age wear safety goggles? Nope, neither did we that day. The tots I saw with goggles were chewing on them or throwing them on the ground to play that lovely game all infants and tots restricted in a stroller or high chair love to play "parent pick-up."

Sorry, I have no pictures to show you of our fun, family, goggle wearing picnic because cameras were not allowed.

Apart from the non-tot friendly goggles and name tags they did have some cool activities for the kids. Our favorite was the science experiment demonstrations. The experiments were hands-on. The kids went up front and worked with everyday items and performed some cool experiments.

Also, we were able to tour the plant, as long as our escort (Hubby) at all times. He took us over to see the production building that he has been working on, which was nice since he has worked on this project for 6+ years now. The kids got a kick out of seeing the large vats, hoses, controls, thingy-ma-jigs and whatcha-ma-call-its.

We stayed long enough for the tour, lunch, and the science experiments. It had been a long day and everyone was in need of a nap. It was later that afternoon EM developed a fever, thankfully easily controlled by medicine. Later that evening I came down with whatever the other two had (ED was sick earlier last week.) The sick part was not part of our fun weekend, but I'm glad we were able to enjoy everything else before the illness set in.

And for this weekend? It is shaping up to be another enjoyable fall weekend, we shall see what transpires.
