And That Is How You Tell Them Apart

Little girls amaze me; at how different they are from boys. From an early age they are more social, they are more mature, more independent, and that they are so darn cute and can wrap their fathers (and mothers) around their tiny finger like no one's business.

Leaving dance class the other evening EM walked past two of her classmates. Recognizing each other they all stopped, smiled and waved. Again, their social abilities amaze me.

The boys, at age 3, would have walked into their classmates. They would not recognize them, would not say sorry, but just walk off staring blankly into the air.

While volunteering in ED's kindergarten class we worked on an art project, but forgot to put the kid's names on the bags before the gluing and coloring began. Once everything dried I called up a group of boys to identify theirs, they couldn't. OK, one did but he wasn't very convincing.

So I called up the girls and within 30 seconds all of them identified their projects, no hmming and hawing. With self-confidence they picked theirs out and said "this is mine."

The teacher and I just laughed. Ahh, yes! It is good to be a member of the fairer sex.
