"No!" "You can't make me do it." "I can't believe you are ruining my day."
All these I heard as I told one child that pushing all of the junk into piles along the perimeter of his bedroom was not, in fact, "cleaning your room."
After much grumbling I began to hear different sounds from his room. Cries of surprise and joy.
He found the book he had been wanting to read.
"I found a penny" he cried.
Well, wonders never cease. Apparently, I did not ruin his entire day, just the 15 minutes it took to drag him up to his room.
